Argaleo’s evacuation tool has been nominated for a Computable Award 2026 in the Government Project of the Year category. With this tool, we help safety regions, municipalities and event organisers simulate and optimise evacuations using digital twin technology.
What is the evacuation tool?
The evacuation tool combines complex traffic and evacuation models into a single digital twin. This enables safety regions and road authorities to simulate realistic evacuation scenarios, for instance in the event of imminent flooding or large-scale wildfires. The tool provides concrete insight into traffic flow, bottlenecks and the time needed to bring residents and tourists to safety.
The project was developed within Fieldlab Zuid6, where the six southern safety regions collaborate on innovative applications for crisis management. Safety Region Zeeland served as the test area, and the tool has since been tested with multiple regions across the Netherlands.

Computable Awards 2026
The Computable Awards are the most prestigious ICT awards in the Netherlands, presented annually to the most innovative and impactful projects in the sector. The nomination in the Government Project of the Year category confirms that digital twin technology plays an increasingly important role in addressing societal challenges.

Why this nomination matters
Evacuation plans in many regions are still based on static documents and assumptions. The evacuation tool makes it possible to dynamically calculate scenarios: what happens if a particular road is closed? How long does it take to evacuate a coastal municipality during a storm surge? By answering these questions in advance with simulations, emergency services and policymakers can prepare much more effectively.
The Computable Award nomination is a recognition of the impact this approach has. It shows that innovation in the public sector is not only possible, but is also seen and valued by the broader ICT community.
