Jeroen Steenbakkers lives in Rosmalen with his wife and two daughters. He studied Technical Business Administration in Eindhoven and has since focused on developing data-driven solutions for urban challenges. After working in various roles in technology and consulting, he founded Argaleo in 2019 with the vision of making cities smarter, safer, and more livable through digital innovation.
The path to Argaleo
Jeroen’s career has been shaped by a deep interest in how data and technology can solve real-world problems. After studying Technical Business Administration at Eindhoven University of Technology, he worked in various capacities in the technology sector, gaining experience in software development, systems integration, and management consulting. This diverse background provided the foundation for understanding both the technical and business aspects of creating digital solutions for cities.
The vision behind Digitwin
The inspiration for Digitwin came from observing city planners and administrators struggling to make decisions with incomplete information. Traffic jams, overcrowded public events, inefficient logistics—these problems persist partly because decision-makers lack real-time insights into how cities actually function. Jeroen saw an opportunity to create a technology that would provide these insights, enabling cities to be smarter and more responsive to their residents’ needs.
Five years of growth
Since its founding in 2019, Argaleo has grown from a startup to a recognized leader in smart city solutions. The company has worked with dozens of municipalities and organizations across the Netherlands and Europe, helping them implement Digitwin technology to improve urban management, enhance public safety, and create more livable cities. The growth has been driven by a commitment to understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that actually work in real-world conditions.
The future of smart cities
Looking ahead, Jeroen believes that data-driven decision-making will become increasingly important for cities facing challenges like climate change, rapid urbanization, and changing mobility patterns. Argaleo’s mission is to make the tools for this transformation accessible to cities of all sizes, from small towns to major metropolitan areas.
