For the past ten days, Tilburg has hosted one of the largest events in the Benelux: the Tilburg Fair. With a vast area of 4.5 kilometers and hundreds of thousands of visitors, security is a top priority. This year, for the first time, the Municipality of Tilburg used Argaleo's Digitwin Dashboard to take the security and organization of the event to the next level.
Argaleo, which specializes in creating digital twins for safe and smart cities, provided an innovative and integrated information system for the fairgrounds' command center. This Digitwin Dashboard provided real-time insights essential for decision support by the various teams, including security coordinators and other stakeholders.
Argaleo's Digitwin Dashboard integrated data from various sources to present a comprehensive view of the event. The dashboard provided a detailed visual overview of the entire fairgrounds, including all attractions and key locations. In addition, users could monitor visitor numbers at specific hotspots in real-time, allowing for immediate anticipation of potential bottlenecks.
Information on traffic conditions and parking occupancy was also integrated, so that visitors were directed in time to alternative parking locations or encouraged to take their bikes. Incident reports were relayed directly to teams in the field, allowing for quick and efficient responses. Weather information, such as live updates on weather conditions and precipitation radar, was also available, which facilitated scheduling adjustments. Finally, the dashboard provided an overview of personnel deployment, allowing resources to be used efficiently.
Successful Collaboration
The cooperation between the Municipality of Tilburg and Argaleo contributed to a successful and convivial edition of the fair, as was also described in the press. In the specially equipped command center in the city hall, thanks to the integral information supply on large screens, a constant eye was kept on the scene. This way of working not only ensured a quick response to any incidents, but also a proactive approach to prevent crowds and unsafe situations.
Mayor Theo Weterings called the cooperation in the command center "unique" and praised the short lines of communication between the various teams. This was proven several times during the event, as in the quick response to a possible fire alarm, which was resolved within two minutes thanks to the combined efforts of people and technology. Argaleo is proud of the contribution it was able to make to the safety and organization of this large-scale event and looks forward to future collaborations with the City of Tilburg and other cities to make events and urban environments even safer and smarter.
