Heart of North Holland, Alkmaars Bolwerk, and Enterprising Alkmaar strengthen their position in addressing regional challenges by entering into a strategic partnership with the advanced Digitwin data platform. The platform offers the ability to obtain data-driven societal insights in a region or city. Issues regarding vacancy and mobility can be addressed with this, and segmentation based on visitor profiles is also improved.

Other interesting possibilities the platform offers are weather feedback, which measures the influence of weather on traffic in the municipality, and monitoring accessibility in the city center. Melanie Goudsblom, deputy director Heart of North Holland, is enthusiastic about the collaboration: “It allows us to map various aspects, such as pedestrian flows, accessibility, and the type of visitors to the municipality. Very valuable information on which we can base our strategies and make the region even more attractive for residents, visitors, and businesses. Based on origin data, marketing can be deployed very specifically for these target groups.”

By mapping pedestrian data, associated dwell times, and modes of transport, detailed visitor profiles can be created that can be used and advised on to improve the municipality in various ways. One of those areas, the vacancy in the center of Alkmaar, and especially on Laat, has long been a thorn in the side of Björn Mulder, who is himself a property owner and shopkeeper and serves as chairman of Alkmaars Bolwerk. He sees the future of Alkmaar center positively. “With the help of the data and insights obtained by Argaleo, we can, for example, create profiles for each district in Alkmaar of the type of visitors who mainly come here. On the basis of this, we can choose stores that fit well with the needs of these target groups,” says Mulder. Obtaining these insights is currently focused on the municipality of Alkmaar, with the desire to expand to other areas in the region.
