Argaleo, the Den Bosch-based ICT company founded in 2019, has secured an investment from the Bossche Investeringsfonds (BIF). Over the past two years, Argaleo has rapidly grown into a full-fledged scale-up with its own software platform, dozens of clients and leading references. With the investment and coaching from BIF, the organization’s professional growth is being supported as it enters a new phase.
Argaleo collects and connects data to a digital 3D copy of a city or region, a so-called Digital Twin. With these data-driven insights, the Digital Twin supports governments and businesses in improving livability, safety and mobility in cities. Over the past two years, dozens of municipalities, provinces and safety regions have started using Argaleo’s dashboards. For example, to gain insight into cycling behavior in the provinces of Utrecht, Zuid-Holland and Noord-Brabant. But also for public safety insights, such as the dashboard developed and used by the organization of the cycling event La Vuelta Holanda this summer.

BIF investment and coaching
Argaleo receives the investment from the Bossche Investeringsfonds, a public-private fund financed by six private investors, all successful entrepreneurs, and the Municipality of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. “Over the past two years, we have independently developed our software platform and market solutions and deployed them at large organizations. We are now entering a second phase in which we need to convert our potential and successes into professional growth in current and new market segments. This investment will help us achieve that,” says Jeroen Steenbakkers, who founded the company together with Andre Sluyter.
In addition to the investment, the private investors also commit as coaches to the companies in which they participate. Arjen Heeres, co-founder of Quintiq, will support Steenbakkers as a mentor during the scale-up: “Jeroen has developed a clear vision of where his company is heading, with a solution that is broadly applicable and scalable. We help Jeroen to set the right priorities but can also advise him on the daily decisions a growing company faces.” The two are no strangers to each other. Coincidentally, Jeroen also applied to Quintiq ten years ago. “I recognize many of the challenges Argaleo faces now from my early days at Quintiq. So it is a good fit,” says Heeres.

Den Bosch data city
Argaleo is one of the many ICT and data companies based in Den Bosch and is located in the Grasso building, the hub of the ICT & data community in Den Bosch. Alderman Ralph Geers, whose portfolio includes economic affairs, data economy and innovation, is pleased with the development of the Den Bosch ecosystem. “Entrepreneurs, government and education are increasingly finding each other. In the area of ICT and data, ‘s-Hertogenbosch has powerful instruments to stimulate entrepreneurship. The investment by the Bossche Investeringsfonds in Argaleo is a fine example of the strength of public-private collaboration. It is great to see that partly as a result, the company has achieved success throughout the Netherlands in such a short time.” With the presence of JADS (Jheronimus Academy of Data Science) and an active municipality fully committed to data, the Grasso building in Den Bosch’s Innovation Quarter is the perfect breeding ground for Argaleo.
